Art and advanture at Abu Dhabi

Did you know that Abu Dhabi is made up of 200 islands? There is a lot about the Capital that may be surprising to the uninitiated—starting with the annual women-only Ice Hockey Championship held every Ramadan. The city is home to a plethora of interesting activities—here is our pick of the top four things to do in Abu Dhabi:

Take to the seas at sunset on a cruise with Xventures on Abu Dhabi Corniche. It may be a little hot but the complimentary water and soft drinks on this 60-minute cruise will prove to be a welcomed source of relief. Xventures Abu Dhabi, www.x-ventures.net.

Get cultured with art museums at Manarat Al Saadiyat which is open from 10am-2pm and then from 8.30pm-1.30am during Ramadan. Don’t forget to pay a visit to the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Birth of a Museum exhibition which is on until August 24. Manarat Al Saadiyat, Saadiyat Island (02 657 5800).

Watch Scooby Doo and his gang solve an epic mystery from the 5-8 of August at ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre). During the Summerfest Abu Dhabi, ADNEC will be home to shows and educational activities for the little ones. Entrance cost AED 40 for adults, AED 20 for children and is free for those under the age of two. Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, Khaleej Al Arabi (30th Street) and du Forum, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

During every night of Ramadan, Art Hub will be hosting talks for artists and entrepreneurs at its air-conditioned rooftop tent. From 10.30pm, Art Hub, Plot 38 MW5, Mussaffah, Abu Dhabi, 02 551 5005
