With a rich and often romanticised culture, France has been home to some of the world’s greatest art and literature. A nation of great thinkers, it has been at the forefront of modern philosophy but is known more widely for its culinary prowess and a love of food which borders on a national obsession as Charles De Gaulle once observed, ‘How can anyone govern a nation that has 240 different kinds of cheese?’ Much of France’s charm however, is inherent in its enchanting architecture and beautiful landscapes which range from the pristine snow of Val d'Isère to the sun-kissed beaches of Saint Tropez.
