Jumeirah Beach Residence – also known as JBR – is one of the best places in Dubai for families to live. JBR is not only a self-contained development, but it also provides a cosmopolitan life for residents and visitors alike. While it’s well known for its beachfront living, cobbled roads and expensive sports cars lined up outside five-star hotels, the many convenient amenities make JBR perfect for family life. With more than 350 retail stores and restaurants, coffee shops, medical centres, daycare centres, secure playground areas, fitness clubs, beauty salons, banks and cinemas – all in one scenic place – it’s no wonder JBR is a sought-after area. It’s also great for those who like walking on the beach, swimming, sunbathing and soaking up luxurious surroundings and amenities at the same time. Getting around
Although the roads can get congested along The Walk the completion of the tramline has eased this somewhat. The tramline route runs from JBR to Al Sufouh, making access even easier between these two areas, with links to the Metro and Palm Monorail along the way. Taxis drive by frequently and can easily be found away from congested areas if you walk towards Dubai Marina, where there is also a Metro station. JBR is very close to a number of great attractions that Dubai has to offer: Beachfront Mall and The Walk is on your doorstep while Marina Mall is a five-minute walk away, and Mall of the Emirates and Ibn Battuta Mall are a quick 10 minute drive away. Living by the beach is what first attracted us to JBR, as well as being near to friends in Dubai Marina. There’s always plenty to do here, from paddle boarding to watching films in the outdoor cinema, or simply catching up with friends over a coffee – with a nice view guaranteed. Since the opening of Beachfront Mall we’re spoilt for choice with cafés and restaurants – even more so than before. The shopping along The Walk is great, and the hotels have fantastic spas, beach resorts and dining. The only downside is the amount of traffic that passes through – but that just goes to show how popular it is here.
