What’s coming up in Dubai this December

Can you believe we’re down to the last month of 2021 already? Neither can we. Seriously, where does the time go? December is upon us. That means it’s time to get busy dusting off the holiday albums from Kenny G or Michael Bublé and planning where to head out next!

There are always heaps to do in this great city. More so this month with cooler days well underway. We know we keep on saying that but we wager you wouldn’t disagree that the mercury hovering in the lower 20s is something we all look forward to!

If you’re looking for all the good stuff happening, we recommend booking well in advance as activities this time of year tends to fill up fast. With plenty of fun activities and events in Dubai on the calendar, you’re sure to find something that takes your fancy. Let’s do this!

Expo 2020

As with the previous list, Ex[po 2020 is a mainstay in our lists. There’s so much to explore whether you’re into art, food, architecture, science, culture, and more. Plus, multi-award-winning artist Alicia Keys is performing live on December 10, followed by AR Rahman on December 19!

You can also make your way from one pavilion to another-a unique opportunity to explore the world in one setting. With over 190 participating countries, you can try but you probably won’t be able to visit all of them in one go.

Commemoration and National Days

Yes, another long weekend! The last one this year as well. The four-day break begins on December 1st and lasts until December 3rd to mark Commemoration Day and UAE National Day, the latter marking the 50th year since the seven emirates united.

From parades, and performances to plenty of surprises, brace yourself for a myriad of ceremonies and activities lined up. Malls, restaurants, and even airlines have flash sales coming up in celebration of the UAE’s golden jubilee. This is the perfect time to check deals, discounts, and freebies across Dubai.

Sky Views Dubai

There’s a new attraction in town but it’s not for the faint of heart. Address Sky View recently opened Sky Views Dubai to the public and it’s bound to make your knees shake.

Located on the hotel’s 53rd floor, Sky Views Dubai is made up of Sky Edge Walk, Sky Glass Slide, and Sky Observatory. It lets you do just that: walk, slide or just admire views of Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai. From a 46-meter glass walk, 220 meters above the ground, that is.

Martin Garrix

Dutch DJ and producer behind hits ‘In The Name Of Love’ and ‘Scared To Be Lonely’ is set to perform live at Coca-Cola Arena on December 16. Martin Garrix is one of the biggest names in pop as well as electronic circles right now. Keeping spirits high through his live streams over the past year due to the pandemic, this is Garrix’s highly anticipated return, having performed in the UAE in 2017, 2918, and 2020.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021

This isn’t Dubai-based but this list wouldn’t be complete without including one of the most highly anticipated sports events in the UAE. From pulse-pounding race action to can’t-miss after-race concerts, the world’s fastest drivers are roaring into Yas Marina Circuit from 9 to 12 December.

Give your favourite racing icon, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Valterri Bottas, and Lando Norris, a boost. Or enjoy the live performance at the after-race parties with A-list artists Foo Fighters, Khalid, and Lewis Capaldi.
