Dubai has become one of the world's most popular cities for both ex-pats and holidaymakers. So, as you would expect, it has loads of incredible landmarks that offer tourists and residents an amazing experience filled with fun, luxury and culture. Whether you're a Dubai resident or just visiting for a short holiday, these top 20 landmarks are well worth a visit! 

 

1 - Burj Khalifa

You may truly stand above the world—the Burj Khalifa, rising over the city like a celestial light. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest man-made structure in the world, soaring to an astonishing height of 828 meters (2,717 feet). 

It just takes a few minutes to go from the desert sands to the skies above thanks to its 124th and 148th-floor observation decks that provide incredible 360-degree aerial views of the city. The tallest building in the world won’t let you down, unless you’re in its 36 km/h elevator going downwards.

 

2 - Dubai Fountain

The Dubai Fountain, located in the heart of Downtown Dubai, next to the Burj Khalifa, moves with a grace and beauty that belies its mechanical foundation. It is the world's largest choreographed fountain system. 

At night, it sways and jets in a captivating show of light and sound to a diverse playlist of music that includes classical melodies, contemporary hits, and even traditional Arabic tunes. Water jets shoot as high as a 45-story building, all in harmony with captivating music and vibrant lights, providing a free show that delights and enchants everyone who passes by. 

You can catch the fountain shows every evening, from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm (every 30 minutes). 

 


3 - Burj Al Arab

The Burj Al Arab, often called the world's only 7-star hotel, is an iconic landmark in Dubai. It is a masterpiece of design that resembles a billowing sail caught in the breeze, evidence of Dubai's boundless creativity. The seven-star hotel is situated on an island on its own and provides guests with a private sanctuary in addition to being a prominent landmark that can be seen from many locations around the city.

At Al Mahara, you can enjoy gourmet seafood surrounded by a stunning aquarium. Or, if you are up for something different, try the Skyview Bar on the 27th floor, where the views are as delightful as the drinks. The Burj Al Arab Hotel is always open. The Inside Burj Al Arab tour is available daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

 

 

4 - Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is a shopper's paradise and a well-known Dubai landmark. With over 1,200 shops, including luxury brands and local boutiques, It is one of the largest malls globally. But the Dubai Mall goes far beyond just being a place to shop. It also features an indoor theme park, aquarium, underwater zoo, and ice rink. The mall also has a cinema to catch the latest blockbusters and a virtual reality park to transport you to new dimensions. There are a variety of restaurants and cafes serving cuisine from around the world. You can refuel and savour flavours from different corners of the globe. 

The Dubai Mall opens from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with extended hours on weekends and public holidays.

 

5 - Museum Of The Future

The Museum of The Future is an incredible building that symbolizes Dubai's commitment to the future, where innovative design and cutting-edge technology combine to create an immersive experience. The exterior of the museum is a work of art, a beautiful structure with incredible arabic inscriptions. 

The museum is all about new ideas and amazing technology. It is divided into different sections, each with a unique theme and fun activities. You will meet friendly robots called "Robo-Guides." They are there to help you and answer your questions. You will also learn about the past and how we got here. 

The museum operates every day from 10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

 


 

6 - Dubai Frame

The Dubai Frame is a gigantic picture frame, soaring 150 meters high and stretching 93 meters wide. It is a modern architecture made of shiny golden steel and glass.  When you step inside the Dubai Frame, you step into a time machine.

On one side, you will find "Old Dubai." It is like stepping back in time to the city's early days. You will see old markets, learn about pearl diving, and discover the traditional houses of the Emirati people. On the other side, you will enter "New Dubai," a world of towering skyscrapers and high-tech gadgets. It is like a glimpse into tomorrow. The most exciting part is the Sky Deck, where you can see the whole city, even the famous Burj Khalifa.

7 - Palm Jumeirah 

Palm Jumeirah is one of the most famous Dubai landmarks, shaped like a giant palm tree. It is the world's largest manmade island, home to luxurious resorts and pristine beaches, as well as some of the most exquisite beach-front villas and beautiful apartments in Dubai. You can visit the mosque six days a week (Saturday-Thursday) between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Fridays are reserved for Muslim worshippers only.
