What's coming up in Dubai this August

Here we are at the beginning of a brand new month and there is no deniying summer is here! It is August, the hottest month of the year, with daytime temperatures reaching as high as 48° C.

But enough about the weather. Despite the fact that it can get quite hot outside, there are plenty of things to look forward to in the coming weeks. A movie and play premiere, an unmissable gastronomic experience, and two live concerts are all lined up this month.

Bullet Train

Five assassins are aboard a bullet train between Tokyo and Kyoto with seemingly different missions. Turns out they won’t be too happy once they bump into each other. Brad Pitt leads this stellar ensemble, along with Sandra Bullock, Logan Lerman and Bad Bunny. Touted as this summer’s biggest action flick, Bullet Train hits theatres on 4 August. 

 

The Genesis, Ossiano

Chef Gregoire Berger collaborates with Japanese chef Natsuko Shoji of Été, named Asia’s Best Female Chef, to create an immersive feast at Ossiano, Atlanti

s. From 5 to 6 August, the renowned chefs are treating guests to a 10-course tasting menu. There is a limited number of seats available so book early.

 

Prima Facie Screening

Watch a screening of the critically acclaimed play Prima Facie starring Killing Eve star Jodie Comer, who has won Emmys and BAFTAs for her role in the play. Written by Suzzie Miller, this powerful monologue follows Tessa and revolves around sexual assault and the legal system. Catch it at Courtyard Playhouse on 21 August.

 

Faouzia

It is true, the Moroccan-Canadian singer-songwriter is set to light up the stage in Dubai with her music. The Bad Dreams singer, known for combining classic pop and global sounds and genres with cultural influences, will perform at Dubai Media City’s The Agenda on August 21. This is Faouzia’s first live show in the UAE. 

 

 

Alan Walker

EDM fans in the house, make some noise! British-born Norwegian DJ Alan Walker is returning to Dubai! The mask-wearing singer is back for a thrilling concert at the Coca-Cola Arena for one night only and will be joined by Niles Hollowell-Dhar, known professionally as KSHMR. Catch both Alan Walker and KSHMR on August 26.
