Roads and private vehicles in the Dubai Islands

The RTA has awarded an AED 786 million contract for a new 1,425-metre bridge connecting the Dubai Islands to Bur Dubai, with four lanes in each direction and capacity for 16,000 vehicles per hour. The bridge will also include a dedicated pedestrian and cycling track. Once complete, this project is expected to cut travel time from over 100 minutes to around 16 minutes on key routes, as part of the wider Al Shindagha Corridor Development. Residential buildings within the community include parking, and the internal road network connects each island via individual bridges.
